325 entries from 36 countries: Basel Comic Competition selects 20 winners

The first Basel Comic Competition, launched by FANTASY BASEL – The Swiss Comic Con, the Cartoonmuseum Basel – Centre for Narrative Art, the Christoph Merian Foundation and Basel Tourism, focuses on a central theme: ‘Freundschaft – Friendship – Amicizia – Amitié’. Within a month, the jury received a total of 325 illustrated short stories, each offering a unique perspective on this central aspect of human interaction. In addition to 151 entries from Switzerland, 68 from Germany and 28 from France, the jury received submissions from across Europe and overseas. The complete comics will be presented as part of FANTASY BASEL – The Swiss Comic Con. From 4 May, the Mittlere Rheinbrücke in Basel will be decorated with excerpts from the works of the 20 winners.
