Researching with a Pencil
Science meets art! Workshops for school classes
Following a tour of the exhibition ‘José Muñoz. Broken Voices’ and a short input by a researcher on the topic of ‘Sound and Image’, everyone grabs a pencil and begins to draw and experiment with inspiration. These thematic workshops in collaboration with the IBSA Foundation for scientific research are aimed at school classes, are limited to a few dates and are free of charge.
The Argentine comics artist José Muñoz draws inspiration from the freedom of jazz musicians’ improvisation. His black-and-white crime-themed work, filled with tremulous voices and vibrating sounds, incorporates abstract elements that embrace the principles of jazz and play with visual and narrative disruptions.
Ali Latif-Shushtari, physicist and composer, and Malin Widén, art mediator and illustrator, will respond to the works of Muñoz from their different scientific and artistic perspectives, and look for similarities and differences between disciplines. After an introductory section presented by both workshop leaders, we will learn more about the physics of waves and sounds from researcher Ali Latif-Shushtari – and pick up a pencil to experiment, guided by artist Malin Widén.
Duration: 120 minutes
Age: From 12 years
Group: Max. 16 people
Language: English/German
Free of charge
School classes can apply for the two dates and choose the time slot that suits them best.
